Dating PSA

After listening to my spec lament about the 'lack of decent black men' I have a PSA: Black women don't believe the media, there is no dating crisis concerning black women! It is a facade. The power of our media lies in its ability to manipulate data, merge said data with dissenting opinion which gives birth to a false crisis.

You all are the epitome of intelligence, beauty, and grace, you are the world's most copied woman. So what if black men are dating outside 'our' race, its their decision not yours.

Before you ask 'why am I still single' do you 'want' to be in a relationship or do you 'need' to be in one? Of course it would be nice to have someone to be with, however you don't need to have your worth validated by the attention of the opposite sex or be devalued by the lack of attention.

There's nothing to be concerned about enjoy being single and don't force the game. Nobody asking you: "Who you with?, Or where you going?" Enjoy not being tied down, get to know yourself, date a little go explore your city find a hobby. The greatest irony about crisis is that women aren't utilizing their options correctly, while you are fretting about the men who don't view you as an option you are overlooking the men who want to make you a priority. However just know that you won't be compatible with everyone so make sure u have realistic expectations.

Check out the art work of Beijing based artist, Liu Bolin
This man paints himself to blend into backgrounds. I think this amazing and an obvious labor of love. I wonder how many hours it takes to do it. Hmm... Look at the pictures below.

My Favorite Poem

We are all here for a reason on a particular path
You don't need a curriculum to know that you are part of the math
Cats think I'm delirious, but I'm so damn serious
That's why I expose my soul to the globe, the world
I'm trying to make it better for these little boys and girls
I'm not just another individual, my spirit is a part of this
That's why I get spiritual, but I get my hymns from Him
So it's not me, it's He that's lyrical
I'm not a miracle, I'm a heaven-sent instrument
My rhythmatic regimen navigates melodic notes for your soul and your mental
That's why I'm instrumental
Vibrations is what I'm into
Yeah, I need my loot by rent day
But that is not what gives me the heart of Kunte Kinte
I'm tryina give us "us free" like Cinque
I can't stop, that's why I'm hot
Determination, dedication, motivation
I'm talking to you, my many inspirations
When I say I can't, let you or self down
If I were of the highest cliff, on the highest riff
And you slipped off the side and clinched on to your life in my grip
I would never, ever let you down
And when these words are found
Let it been known that God's penmanship has been signed with a language called love
That's why my breath is felt by the deaf
And why my words are heard and confined to the ears of the blind
I, too, dream in color and in rhyme
So I guess I'm one of a kind in a full house
Cuz whenever I open my heart, my soul, or my mouth
A touch of God reigns out

He hails from Vancouver, B.C. and is a style all his own. He music is incredible and is definitely a gateway to this man's soul. If music is the manifestation of emotion then this is true emotion at its best. It starts with a beat and ends up a sound. Think about it...

#LENSMOVEMENT Introduction

What is “The Lens Movement”?
The Lens Movement represents any individual that has a vision for their lives. When thinking about a lens, the general population would probably think about the lens of a camera but these people are trying to see their dreams with their own eyes. The Lens Movement is an attempt to bring these like minded people together to organize a cadre of motivated and determined individuals.

The Lens Movement is a project dear to my heart. I'm in the process of constructing a photo shoot to showcase with a vision. Everything you see #lensmovement in the subject of a post, there will probably a photo accompanied by someone's vision statement. If you have a vision statement just follow the template below and email us at reginaldlarue@gmail.com

Cuts Kill Culture

This is one my favorite Directors
Introducing Patrick Boivin

Bio via wikipedia

Patrick Boivin (born 1975) is a film-maker from Montreal, Quebec, Canada best known for stop motion short films. In addition to directing, he is often involved in the lighting, editing, animation, special effects and even music in his films.

His short film Ça pis tout l’reste (That, and everything else) was chosen by Quebec Gold as one of the top 10 short films from Quebec in 2008. Boivin was one of the group of nine "autodidact" writers who produced an experimental television series "Phylactere Cola" for Canadian television that aired in 2002-2003. All were cartoonists who had met years earlier and produced over 400 sketches.[1] His films have been featured at numerous international film festivals around the world, including the Montreal World Film Festival, the Commonwealth Film Festival (UK), and the Festival de Namur(Belgium).
Boivin started his creative career by drawing comic books, and, in his words, “quickly discovered that it was faster to tell a story with video." He cites Tom Waits, Roy Andersson, Federico Fellini, andPaul Thomas Anderson as influences on his style.
Many of his films have been viewed more than a million times on YouTube. He created the stop motion videos for the "King Of The Dogs" song from Iggy Pop and "Play boy" from Indochine.

Just A Few Thoughts and Questions

  1. When is the last time you liked a song on an album that wasn't the released single?
  2. What is the last great album you heard?
  3. What is the best non-single track you've ever heard from a mainstream artist?

Different Shades

I saw this figure in my friends room while another friend was getting a haircut. I thought it looked amazing and HAD to take a picture of it. My favorite part about this picture is the shading of it. I wanted to make the reds and blues pop out more but, I like this result in the end.
